A tenor with a distinguished career in the fields of opera, oratorio and concert repertoire, David is originally from Scotland, where he graduated in Singing and Flute at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and he has built a strong reputation and performed extensively throughout Australia, New Zealand, Germany and the UK.
After moving to Sydney he was an early member of The Song Company, Australia’s premier a cappella vocal ensemble, for 7 years. His performances have included the tenor roles in most of the major oratorios with all the major orchestras in Australia and New Zealand and Asia and he was awarded the Australian Centenary Medal in 2001.
David's repertoire encompasses an extraordinarily wide range, from Handel's Messiah and Haydn's Creation to 20th century masterpieces such as Britten's War Requiem and Elgar's Dream of Gerontius, yet he can just as easily lend his voice to the many musicals and songs of a modern world.
In 2007, David moved to Germany and during his time there he sang the title role in Mozart's Idomeneo in Neu Munster, and in 2008 and 2009 performed the title role of Lohengrin for Saarbrucken Opera House, and in the same role understudied the great German tenor Peter Seiffert in Luxembourg. Whilst in Germany, he also sang various choral and lieder concerts including songs by Schubert, Schumann, Haydn and Beethoven (he recorded Beethoven’s Scottish Lieder for Brilliant Classics in 2008).
In 2012 David returned to live in Sydney after being invited by Opera Australia to understudy the roles of Pali in Korngold's Die Tote Stadt and Herod in Strauss' Salome. Since then concerts have included Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius for Auckland Choral and Brisbane Chorale, Mendelssohn’s St Pali for Bach Musica, and Messiah in Dunedin, Auckland and Christchurch, Dvorak’s Stabat Mater in Sydney, Berlin and Poland, both the Evangelist and tenor arias for the St John Passion with the Bach Choir Auckland, Kodaly's Psalmus Hungaricus in Auckland and tours throughout NSW with The Australian Tenors.
Stuart has toured extensively in Europe and the UK, performing operas, operetta and oratorio. He has sung principal roles at Covent Garden and was a resident tenor with Scottish Opera and spent 6 months with Opera de Monte Carlo.
He performed and recorded the world premiere of The Vanishing Bridegroom and since returning to Australia in 1992, Stuart has performed with the Victorian State Opera, Opera Queensland, and in 1996 took up a Principal Tenor position with Opera Australia.
He has performed with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and in Singapore and Macau. He has also performed in Opera in the Vineyards and many concerts nationwide both as soloist and with The Australian Tenors.
In 1998, he was co-founder of Tenor Australis, a three-tenor group, specializing in Australian song while also performing standard greats from opera and Neapolitan song.
2017 - TenOrZ Downunder is yet another extension to his love of the classical Australian song.

Thomas Strong was born in Albury and raised on a farm in outback NSW where he learned the way of the land; however, the draw to the Arts was overwhelming. He completed his Bachelor of Performing Arts at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts in 2006 and a Masters of Music (opera) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2013.
Thomas has had the opportunity to perform in many opera and theatre companies as a baritone and tenor and has also performed in many concerts, displaying a vast array of repertoire throughout Australia which includes concerts with The Australian Tenors.
In 2010 he moved to Sydney to be in the Pacific opera company, where he played the Role of the Witch in Hänsel und Gretel; this was his debut role as a tenor. Since then Thomas has received great attention for his Heldentenor voice.
Among his acclaimed awards is that of the Royal York Trust Scholarship, which enabled him to travel and perform in operas and concerts in England. He also won the prestigious 2014 Opera foundation for Young Australians New York opera Scholarship, which saw him travel to New York and study with some of the world’s top teachers and coaches at the Metropolitan opera where he also found many performance Opportunities.
Tom as been performing since then in numerous concerts and groups around Australia in a mix of Opera, Musical theatre and Ballard favourites.
Amongst his vast repertoire of roles, he boasts Cascada in The Merry Widow, Le chat from L'enfant et les sortilèges, Doctor Falke from Die Fledermaus, Marquis d'Obigny from La Traviata, Enjolras and Jean Valjean from Les Misérable, Tony From West Side Story, Sky Masterson From Guys and Dolls to name a few. He has worked in the West Australian opera and Victorian opera companies on operas such as La Bohème, Orpheus and the underworld, Rigoletto, Der Fliegende Hollande and Tristan und Isolde.
